Martin’s mission is to prevent the enactment of further liberal reforms in the Volkskammer. When he goes rogue, his mission snowballs, culminating in the fall of the Wall. Martin meets Nicole, Max’s teacher, in a fateful encounter. Lenora has become radicalized in prison. The HVA scrambles to react.

Martin is approached by international agencies offering him the same options: get arrested, get hired, or get killed. He is also tasked with infiltrating a suspected West German terrorist group. Rose pays Lenora a visit in prison. Schweppenstette begrudgingly accepts a mission in Frankfurt.

Martin is forced to face his past when a group of suspected terrorists push him to his limits. Lenora confronts Fuchs and heads to Frankfurt with Grigore, a Romanian agent. Schweppenstette settles into married life with Beate and impresses his new managers with his expertise on East Germany.

When Martin wakes up in Frankfurt, he finds himself in the midst of preparations for a major terrorist attack. He desperately tries to prevent the bomb from going off and encounters his aunt Lenora. Fuchs and Dietrich prepare to leave East Germany for good.

Martin and Nicole head after Lenora who is seeking refuge with Grigore in Romania. Schweppenstette uses HVA tactics to win over a dogmatic State Bank employee. Fritz’s enterprise takes a surprising turn.

Lenora seeks Fuchs’ help in Italy, home of the HVA in exile. Fuchs tries to find a peaceful solution between his former agents, but Martin and Lenora have other ideas. Tina receives a mysterious visitor. Martin grows suspicious of Nicole’s true intentions.

Everyone converges in Leipzig. Martin tries to prevent Lenora’s assassination plot. Valdez and Brigitte work with Rose to stop Lenora. Schweppenstette closes a deal at the Leipzig Trade Fair. Fritz finds investors. Tina discovers the horrifying truth about her visitor.
